Viking Fest – Poulsbo Washington

We took the family out to Viking Fest for the parade and other fun activities (like eating our annual funnel cake!!) We were treated to North Kitsap and Kingston High School and Poulsbo and Kingston Middle School bands – what great music we still have in our school district! Truly a blessing. There were fancy cars, a few floats, (not enough, seems like there use to be a lot more floats) trucks, the military and candy handed out for the kids.

Downtown Poulsbo was packed, which made for a festive atmosphere.

Out Of Kitsap County For A Little Fun And Sun

Sometimes we need to leave our wonderful Puget Sound for fun and sun, and to cultivate our appreciation of home!

wind turbines

A trip to the Cave B Winery and Sage Cliff Resort on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington seemed like a wonderful idea. It was an enjoyable drive over Snoqualmie Pass with a stop over in Ellensburg. Of course the wind turbines are always interesting to observe and the Ellensburg Visitors Bureau had information regarding tours of the Wild Horse Wind Power Project. Gossip has it that even more turbines are scheduled for construction in the future. I believe that would be a good tour to schedule in the future, especially for children.

Clam Jumping at Indianola Beach

One of the things I loved to do when I was a kid, was clam jump.  Clam jumping is where you jump on the sand around clams to try and make them squirt.  If you have not done it, get off the computer and get outside and try it.  It is a lot of fun.  One time my son jumped and got squirted in the mouth.  He still talks about that today.

Here is a video clip from our last Clam Jumping Event.

As you can see it is fun.  If you are interested in Joining the International Clam Jumping Federation, leave a comment below.

Kitsap County Parks Need Help With Maintainence – Can You Do A Little?

The Kitsap County Parks around Kingston are in need of volunteers to help with maintenance as funding is low for those type of projects. A little help from everyone can go a long way and most likely we have all enjoyed one or more of them.

old school house

One of my favorite places in Kingston is Kola Kola Park. It is an active park because the old school houses the Kingston Coop Preschool, and nothing gives life to a place like young children! Continue reading Kitsap County Parks Need Help With Maintainence – Can You Do A Little?
