Faye Bainbridge State Park – Fun for the family

Faye Bainbridge State Park has a variety of family fun things to do and see.  From overnight camping, to BBQ, and a main shelter rental for large get togethers, beach exploring and activitities, and a play ground for the kids.

We spent a couple of hours there this weekend and the kids had a blast while we relaxed and took in the scenery.

Poulsbo Fish Park a great place to walk

Rabbit on the trail at Poulsbo Fish Park
Rabbit on the Trail

Last week we went for a walk in Poulsbo Fish park for the first time and it was a pleasant surprise.  Not even five minutes into our walk we ran into a Rabbit on the trail.  He did not seem to mind us and continued to eat and scratch his ears while we took photos.

After watching the rabbit, we walked down to the end of Liberty bay and watched Canadian Geese swiwm single file underneath the over pass.

Besides the Rabbit and the Canadian Geese, the trails are wide and give you a number of different routes through the park allowing for a multitude of scenic views.  We also enjoyed the board walk through the woods and the spiral trail up a large man made mound that has a bench with different ceramic tiles  that have positive words written on them.  I highly recommend  that if you have not checked out the park, take a break and go for a walk and let me know what you think of Poulsbo’s Fish Park.

No more fireworks at the “Slab”

In the past, the “slab” was a basketball court in downtown Suquamish where people were able to shoot off a bazillion fireworks at their leisure. But with the addition of the brand new longhouse about 30 ft. away, it is no longer welcome.

Suquamish "Slab"

Here is a picture of the sign placed on the brand new dock by the water. But don’t fret! An article about kitsap pyrotechnics (by the Kitsap Sun) and fireworks everywhere around here, they stated “With the new longhouse at the ‘slab’ in Suquamish, people will no longer be lighting off their fireworks there, and instead they can go to the side lot at George’s.” (Read the Article Here) There are still plenty of places to shoot off those fireworks, the “slab” is just no longer one of them.
